School Programs

MIA EnviroWise school program aims to:
> increase knowledge about and concern for the environment;
> encourage fieldwork by students; and
> promote environmental education resulting in pro-active and positive action by students for their environment.

MIA EnviroWise is working at developing resources to assist teachers and students learn more about environmental education, including:
> ‘Environmental in action activity boxes’
> written resources – books and brochures
> website addresses for staff and students
> field excursions - organised by MIA EnviroWise staff
> an education package that has been designed to address the NSW Board of Studies Outcomes for stage 3 Key Learning Areas – ‘Water Ways for Schools’.

Water Ways for Schools

An education package ‘Water Ways for Schools’ may assist schools in providing opportunities for students to learn about the importance of natural resources and the inter-relatedness with human society. The package includes both classroom and outside activities. Click here. (pdf - 2.7 MB)

Workshops - There are a range of workshops and local excursions available for school students, which the MIA EnviroWise team can assist teachers with. An environmental officer from Murrumbidgee Irrigation will be available to visit your school and help with any of the field work or to give a talk to the students about the area. click here for further details
