Network Service Plan

The Commonwealth Government introduced new regulatory requirements last year relating to charges levied on customers by infrastructure operators for the provision of water infrastructure services. Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) must comply with these Water Charge (Infrastructure) Rules (WCIR) which are administered and enforced by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The WCIR require us to provide our customers with a Network Consultation Paper that outlines our proposed infrastructure plans and levels of service and anticipated infrastructure charges over a five-year period (from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2017). The consultation paper also includes details of our consultation arrangements and background information about our infrastructure network and business operations.

The Network Consultation Paper (NCP) was posted to customers on 22 December 2011, along with a NCP Summary document. We encourage you to take the time to read these documents (links are also below) and provide us with feedback on the plans outlined, or propose additional / alternative plans you would like us to consider by making written submissions on the content of the NCP during the submission period. Submissions close at 5pm, on 29 February 2012 and can be made individually or through your local networks or commodity groups.

To assist you with preparing your submission, we have developed a submissions cover sheet and template. The template is a guide only on how to set out your submission and its use is optional. The cover sheet however is mandatory and must be attached to your submission. Our customer administration staff can be contacted on 02 6962 0200 to answer enquiries and to help you with your submission if required.

We realise that the submission period will take place during an extremely busy time. Unfortunately we are committed to this timeframe to ensure due consideration of your feedback and preparation and publication of our Network Service Plan by the 1 June 2012 deadline in the WCIR.
