Temporary Water Transfers to Close
31 December 2002
Temporary transfer applications for pre-end-February allocation close on 10 January 2003.
"This applies to Murrumbidgee Irrigation general security shareholders only," said Acting Chief Executive, John Chant.
"This is a further important part of the recently announced crop rescue package for the current season."
"At this stage our priority is to help irrigators finish existing crops. The early close date for these transfers will allow us to better plan to maximise the use of available peak season water to finish crops."
"I urge any shareholder who intends to transfer out any pre-end-February allocation, to lodge their application as soon as possible. The quantity nominated does not have to be sold at that date, but no further application to sell pre-end-February allocation will be accepted after 10 January."
"There will be a rebate to general security irrigators who have not traded out or put in an intent to trade out, and who under use."
The early cut off date does not affect transfers of high security allocation nor general security allocation for delivery after February. In those cases the previous rules continue to apply.
"I urge all irrigators concerned about their water balance to continue to keep in contact with our staff."
