Local frogs and reptiles under the spotlight

13 November 2003

Local frogs and reptiles will come under the spotlight at a field day and BBQ to be held at Fivebough Swamp on 28th November.

Skye Wassen and Steven Sass from Charles Sturt University, and leading herpetologist and co-author of the new book "A Complete Guide to the Reptiles of Australia," Gerry Swan, have recently been conducting frog and reptile surveys throughout the MIA as part of the MIA EnviroWise Biodiversity Program.

Skye, Steven and Gerry will be available at Fivebough Swamp to help interested people to identify local frogs and reptiles, and discuss management strategies that can be employed to conserve these species. Murrumbidgee Irrigation will provide a free BBQ, and then frogs calling in the Swamp can be identified on dark.
