MURRAY DARLING BASIN COMMISSION HOLDING LOCAL CONSULATION SESSIONS

Murray-Darling Basin Commission Ministerial Council is holding public consultation sessions on water related issues on Wednesday, 18 February. Meetings will be held in Gunbar, Coleambally and Hanwood.

Leith Boully, Chairman of the MDBC Ministerial Council will be leading the consultative sessions. Issues for discussion include irrigators property rights, water trading and the health of our rivers.

“The consultative sessions provide an ideal opportunity for irrigators to discuss, in detail, MDBC proposals for the river and the potential impact on irrigators,” said Geoff Hipkins, Chief Executive of Murrumbidgee Irrigation. “It’s easy to be complacent about attending another meeting, however I urge everyone with an interest in the future of irrigation to attend the meeting to stay abreast of the proposals. The decisions of the MDBC Ministerial Council has the potential to affect everyone in the MIA.”

Meetings will be held on Wednesday, February 18 at the Gunbar Hall, Gunbar between 9:00am and 11:00; The Coleambally Bowling Club, Coleambally between 1:00pm and 3:00pm; and the Hanwood Catholic Club, Hanwood between 4:00pm and 6:00pm.
