End of February Water Limits Lifted
8 January 2004
The Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources (DIPNR) have announced that end of February water use limits have been lifted for all water users, including Company shareholders for the current year.
This means all allocation currently announced, that is, 39% for general security and 95% for high security, is available prior to the end of February if needed.
A number of factors have contributed to the ability to lift the end of February limits. Importantly, inflows into Blowering Dam are earlier this year. This means the water is now available for irrigators earlier than planned. In addition, there has been lower than expected use of water.
