MURRUMBIDGEE IRRIGATION HORTICULTURE PROJECT UNDERWAYMurrumbidgee Irrigation are pleased to announce QUIPRITE as the successful tenderer for the Integrated Horticulture Supply (IHS) pressurised pipeline construction project at Stanbridge. Quiprite are assembling their team and product with the intention of commencing work in mid-April. "This is the start of an extensive capital refurbishment program the company announced in April last year. The project team has worked cooperatively with growers and our selected designer Agrihort to ensure that we deliver a superior system in every respect. We are confident the necessary lead up work has been done and we are ready to move ahead," said Michael Chant, Program Leader Pipelines. The installation of technology based water supply systems to horticulture growers has the potential to revolutionise the industry and set new standards in water savings. The project complements Murrumbidgee Irrigation’s many other completed infrastructure upgrades designed to reduce water losses and ensure the sustainability of the irrigation area. Quiprite were selected from six preferred tenderers who submitted proposals and costings. “Quiprite submitted a very good tender document in which they were able to demonstrate their ability to complete the work in the given timeframes, and their sound approach to occupational health and safety and quality assurance,” continued Mr Chant. “In addition they provided the lowest tendered price.” This is the first of approximately 26 Integrated Horticulture Supply projects scheduled for completion in the MIA. All projects will go to competitive tender to ensure Murrumbidgee Irrigation shareholders continue to get the best value possible and stay abreast of new developments in technology. “The tender process was very close with local contractors proving to be very competitive. We are expecting a strong response when project designs for Yenda are released in two weeks,” said Mr Chant. “We have worked successfully with Quiprite in the past and look forward to continuing this strong relationship, however, the enormity of the IHS project means that we will probably need more than one contractor working in the area.”
