THOMPSON RETURNED TO BOARD Murrumbidgee Irrigation Chairman, Dick Thompson, has been returned to the Board for a further four years . Also elected to the Board was Tony Sergi as Horticultural Irrigator Director and Leith Boully accepted appointment as an Independent Director. “I feel honoured to be elected for another term on the Board. There are so many challenges within the industry at the moment and I look forward to being involved in Murrumbidgee Irrigation’s positive response to these challenges” said Mr Thompson. “It is important that now, more than ever before, we work together to ensure the irrigation industry continues to grow and move forward. To do that, we must unite and build our future together. Murrumbidgee Irrigation has made significant advances to our core business of delivering water. That doesn’t mean we never experience difficulties. What it does mean is that we are continually working to find ways to eliminate supply issues due to natural causes or river management decisions that affect our irrigators. During recent years we have found additional water for MIA irrigators. We have relaxed temporary trade rules and enacted drought relief strategies including $3 million in pricing relief. In addition we have delivered Barren Box to the region as a project that will improve every facet of water related management and in so doing improve the image of irrigation. I would like to extend a warm welcome to Leith Boully and Tony Sergi as new directors. I feel sure that their respective skills and experience will be greatly valued by our Company. I would also like to thank Dr Dedee Woodside and Louis Sartor for their hard work and dedication to our Company and the region,” concluded Mr Thompson.
