HIGH SECURITY WATER ORDERING - 2ND ROSTERED EVENT

Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) would like to thank all eligible high security customers for their cooperation during the current period of rostered supply following the official close of season and now advises these customers that the second rostered water date is confirmed to commence Friday 27th April, running through until Thursday 3rd May. After consultation with customers throughout the region, MI delayed the planned second watering to take advantage of the earlier watering in April and improve our chances of securing supplies further into May.

Ordering will open Sunday 22nd April and close at 3pm, Tuesday 24th April. MI will only be diverting from the river the exact amount of the total orders placed between these dates. Therefore it is imperative that customers review their requirements now and place orders ASAP from the 22nd April. If customers order after the 24th April, MI cannot guarantee delivery. Late orders will be placed at the back of the queue and if can be accommodated within the nominated delivery window, may be delivered but are not guaranteed. Customers are also advised that if they order water but do not take it, it will be debited to their account regardless.

For customers with drip and spray irrigation systems, supplies will be available before and after the second rostered watering period. However at this stage, supplies for these customers after the 3rd of May will be limited to the short length of time that we can hold water in the system. Drip and spray irrigation customers will still be required to place orders in advance of taking water.

Brett Tucker, Managing Director of MI congratulated customers for working with the MI Irrigation Services team during the first rostered watering.

“Last week's watering ran smoothly as a result of the diligence of customers placing orders on time as well as the efforts of the Irrigation Services team to ensure orders were delivered. We wrote to every customer in early March and advised them of the order process and it appears that they've taken on board our communication and reviewed their requirements accordingly,” he said.

Mr Tucker expects to be in a position by the last week of April to provide direct advice to eligible customers on the availability of further essential supplies in May.

“We are monitoring the situation during the two rostered events in April and if circumstances permit we will endeavour to provide water under similar arrangements into May. This year the MI team has managed to run the supply system at record levels of efficiency however things remain very tight and at this stage it is too soon to make a call on late season availability,” advised Mr Tucker.
