MI TO RUN WORKSHOP FOR PROSPECTIVE BOARD DIRECTORS

Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) will be running a workshop for prospective Directors looking to join the MI Board in 2007.

As a result of shareholder approved changes to MI's Constitution in September 2006, there is a requirement to recruit and appoint a new Community Independent Director in 2007. Also during this year, two of the existing shareholder-elected Directorships are due for election or re-election.

In the interests of better corporate governance, a Nominations Committee has been established by the MI Board to assist with their succession planning. The Board has recognised the need for the Committee to identify and work with potential Director candidates to ensure they have the skills and experience to fulfil the role as well as to complement the skills of existing Board Directors.

"The Board of Directors role is to act on behalf of its shareholders in setting the strategic direction and governance regime for the company. The 2 day workshop scheduled for mid July will give prospective candidates an insight into what's involved in being a Board Member, including roles and responsibilities," advises John Chant, Company Secretary.

"MI has over $500million in assets under management, an annual turnover in excess of $35million, 190 staff and 3,200 shareholders and so it's extremely important candidates are fully aware and comfortable with the significant business they would have a hand in potentially guiding," concluded Mr Chant.

Expressions of interest in attending the workshop and enquiries regarding eligibility should be directed to either John Chant on 02 6953 0100 or Managing Director Brett Tucker on 02 6962 0200. Closing date for workshop applications is Friday 29th June. Further information including eligibility criteria is also available at www.mirrigation.com.au.
