UPCOMING INFO 'SHED MEETINGS' - PRE 07/08 IRRIGATION SEASON

Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) will be running a number of 'Shed Meetings' throughout the MIA for their customers in early July.

Managing Director Brett Tucker advised "last year we ran a similar series of informal shed meetings to discuss the proposed constitutional changes and other seasonal issues and found them an effective way to talk with our customers, as well as to hear their feedback. In light of the prevailing drought conditions, we want to ensure our customers are fully up-to-date with the latest season outlook information so they can make the best business decisions under these conditions."

A range of locations throughout the MIA region, as well as dates and times have been organised in order to encourage as many irrigators as possible to attend. All MI customers have been sent an invitation with details of dates and venues, plus information is available on MI's website www.mirrigation.com.au which is updated daily with any news pertinent to irrigators. Alternatively contact either Griffith reception on 02 6962 0200 or Leeton 02 6953 0100 for details.

Topics to be addressed include season outlook including the latest weather, storages, inflows data, and access and trade rules. Additionally MI will present details on the Company's efforts to secure water for the MIA region beyond the current crisis.

A barbecue will be provided at each venue. Irrigators are urged to attend one of the meetings to ensure they get the latest information to assist in their decision making.

"The big rainfalls over our catchments we have been praying for pre-season are yet to eventuate. With the 07/08 season due to open shortly, it's important that all of our customers have the latest information at hand as well as to come together as a group and talk through their concerns. This drought has not only severely impacted on the local economy, but also the farmers themselves and their families," concluded Mr Tucker.

Customers are asked to RSVP to Michelle Quinlivan or Cath Patten as soon as possible in Leeton on
02 6953 0100.
