WATER AVAILABLE FOR ELIGIBLE LARGE AREA FARMERS

Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) advises customers that there will be a final watering of winter crops for eligible large area farmers commencing Monday 8 October and finishing Monday 15 October. Orders are open now until 4pm this Sunday 30 September.

"Following discussions with large area customers and in light of the warm, windy and dry conditions we've been experiencing, farmers with winter crops are advising us that a watering is needed in the next couple of weeks to be able to finish the crops for harvest" advised Russell Webb, Operations Manager of MI. "The last large area rostered watering finished on the 12 September with the next one scheduled 5 to 6 weeks later, however the warm weather has brought that watering need forward."

Eligible customers should assess their requirements immediately and place orders with Irrigation Services between now and 4pm Sunday 30 September. For Leeton customers, orders are to be placed using the central water ordering phone service (6953 0161 / 162 / 165). Griffith orders are to be placed in person with Irrigation Services in Yambil St. This office will be manned across Friday/Saturday/Sunday between 8am and 4pm. Card boxes will not be cleared and ordering is only through the specified options as given. Customers will need to specify start and stop times and quantity of water required. Orders close at 4pm this Sunday and late orders cannot be accommodated.

With the high demand on water resources, unfortunately some customers have had delays in being able to speak to both our Irrigation and Customer Services Teams as phone lines have been regularly engaged due to customer enquiries.
