29 May 2007 3RD ROSTERED WATERING EVENT FOR HS POSTPONED UNTIL JUNE Due to recent rainfall in the region, Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) advises that the third rostered watering for eligible high security customers will be postponed until mid to late June. "In the last few weeks the region has experienced some welcome showers of rain that has allowed us to delay the next rostered watering," said Managing Director, Brett Tucker. MI is currently seeking advice from customers regarding the specific timing of the next watering. When dates are finalised, eligible customers will be sent a letter advising of water dates and ordering deadlines. Orders will still need to be placed in advance of taking water. If rainfall forecasted this week eventuates, MI will be holding further discussions with customers as to whether the event can be postponed indefinitely, with the water being carried over into next season. Mr Tucker also advised that "the recent rainfall had greatly assisted in 'wetting up' the catchments, however inflows were negligible despite average falls of around 40 to 50 mm in the upper catchment. At best it can be said that dam levels have 'held' since mid April, but everything helps at this stage." Further details on the remaining operations for this season will be provided in early June.
