14 August 2008 LOW ALLOCATION MEANS WATER BY ROSTER Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) advises customers that due to ongoing low water allocations, a series of rostered watering events will be instigated to meet the needs of eligible customers as well as stock and domestic demands. A continuous supply cannot be provided under the current drought and low allocation conditions. When conditions improve, MI will immediately review the supply service. The first watering event for all crop types and stock and domestic will take place between the 25th and 28th August inclusive. Orders for this event must be placed with MI's Irrigation Services from Monday 18th to 4pm Tues 19th August. To be eligible, customers must be both financial and have sufficient water in their accounts. Customers who require water for stock and domestic needs but fall outside the eligible criteria should contact Customer Services first to seek special application. Eligible customers should assess their requirements immediately and place orders with Irrigation Services on Monday (18TH) and Tuesday (19TH) of next week. For Leeton customers, orders are to be placed using the central water ordering phone service (6953 0161 / 0162 / 0165). Griffith orders are to be placed in person with Irrigation Services in Yambil St. Card boxes will not be cleared and ordering is only through the specified options as given. Customers will need to specify start and stop times and quantity of water required. Orders will close at 4pm on the 19 August and late orders cannot be accommodated. "As soon as conditions improve, we will immediately reassess the rostered ordering system. However if they remain dry with continued low allocations only, we are proposing to deliver five rostered events for large area and stock and domestic customers for the season, with additional events for horticulture," advised Russell Webb, Operations Manager of MI. The next rostered event is not due until early October. MI urges all of its customers to take this into account when developing their water management plans for this season. Contact Irrigation Services in Leeton or Griffith for any further information required. Customers are also strongly encouraged to regularly check MI's website www.mirrigation.com.au as well as to join its Quick Contact List for sms messages, email and fax communications which is the quickest way for customers to stay informed of changes to conditions and allocations.
