25 January 2008 EARLY FEB ROSTERED WATERING EVENT Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) advises eligible customers that the next rostered watering event for large area and stock and domestic including Wah Wah irrigation district has been scheduled to commence in the second week of February, subject to need. Customers who do not have sufficient water in their accounts for stock and domestic needs are required to contact Customer Services first to seek special application. Eligible customers should then assess their requirements immediately and place orders with Irrigation Services between Monday 4 February and 4pm Wednesday 6 February for scheduled deliveries to commence Monday 11 February. For Leeton customers, orders are to be placed using the central water ordering phone service (6953 0161 / 0162 / 0165). Griffith orders are to be placed in person with Irrigation Services in Yambil St. Card boxes will not be cleared and ordering is only through the specified options as given. Customers will need to specify start and stop times and quantity of water required. Orders will close at 4pm on the 6 February and late orders cannot be accommodated. Additionally, with the welcome rains to the region over the last month aiding to fill soil profiles, combined with the recent increase in general security, MI anticipates that customers may seek to pre-water in preparation for winter cropping programmes. The company will be communicating with customers further on this in March. "We are proposing to open up all large area divisions for scheduled services for the month of April. This will also allow the combination of the final proposed 2007/08 irrigation season stock and domestic watering and Wah Wah stock & domestic service into the one event. Customers should review their winter cropping schedule to take this timing of water availability into consideration as there will be no scheduled watering events in March," advised Russell Webb, Operations Manager of MI. It is important that customers continue to follow MI's requirements when ordering and taking delivery of the water so that no unnecessary losses or wastage occurs. In addition to previous compliance advice distributed to customers and information on our website, MI will be sending out a detailed guide to the MI Water Ordering Protocol in the next couple of weeks to all customers. We believe that a better service can be provided to all customers provided these protocols are followed. Horticulture customers in Griffith and Leeton and
the main canal with high security water continue to have access to continuous
supply, with at least 48 hours notice required by customers. |
