The Commonwealth Government introduced new regulatory requirements in 2010 relating to charges levied on customers by infrastructure operators for the provision of water infrastructure services. Murrumbidgee Irrigation must comply with these Water Charge (Infrastructure) Rules (WCIR) which are administered and enforced by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
The WCIR require us to provide our customers with a Network Service Plan that outlines our infrastructure plans, levels of service and anticipated infrastructure charges over a five-year period (from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2017). A link to our Network Service Plan is provided below.

As per the WCIR, independent auditors retained by the ACCC have reviewed our NSP for prudency and efficiency. The review considers whether the NSP represents a plan that would be expected of a commercially successful water infrastructure service provider and whether we are able to cost-effectively deliver these services. Copies of the summary and full reports and the letter we sent to all customers about the review are available below.
