MI to farewell three Directors at AGM
5 November 2021
Three Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) Directors will be farewelled at Monday’s 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will result in significant change to the makeup of the Board.
MI Chair, Nayce Dalton, long serving Director Tony Sergi, and Independent Director, and former CEO, Peter Borrows, will all be retiring from the Board at the conclusion of Monday’s Annual General Meeting.
Nayce was appointed to the Board as a shareholder-elected Director in 2013, and as MI Chair in March 2019.
“Over the past eight years I have seen huge changes in the operations, culture, and future direction of the business,” he said.
“The roll out of modernisation and automation has been a once in a lifetime opportunity with the government assistance that has been available. I am proud of what we have achieved and am looking forward to when the whole area is automated.”
Nayce said that it has been a privilege to work with such a great team at MI, and with MI’s customers.
“It is the strong sense of ownership of MI, by both the shareholders and staff, that makes us a passionate business, and this is a great thing. If we can continue working together, I am sure that MI, its customers, and the communities we are part of, all have a fantastic future ahead.”
Tony Sergi has been a mainstay on the MI Board for the past 16 years. MI has been a huge and very important part of his life, so it was an extremely difficult decision to not stand again.
“I am proud of MI’s ability to proactively deal with so much recent change, and I expect they will continue to interact and play a quality role in customers farming future,” he said.
“I want to thank Customers and Shareholders for their support for me during my time on the Board. It has been a pleasure to represent all - A, B and C Class members. To all MI employees and Board members past and present that I have had the pleasure of working and interacting with, please take this as a personal thank-you.”
“I have thoroughly enjoyed representing you and voicing any concerns raised to me at a Board level.”
Peter Borrows was appointed as an Independent Director in 2015 and was MI’s CEO from July 2013 to July 2015.
Peter guided the Company through a significant period of change during his two years as CEO with a focus on safety and culture. This focus continued throughout his time as Independent Director.
MI AGM will be held on Monday 8 November 2021, at the Leeton Soldiers Club. In accordance with COVID-19 public health orders, attendees will be required to show proof of double vaccination.
Proxy voting closes, this Sunday 7 November at 2pm for A & B Class Shareholders who cannot attend and would like to vote.
