What water means to the MIA

Photos should celebrate the importance of water in all its forms around the MIA - the spaces and places that you feel represent the importance of water to us all.

Opens: Wednesday 7th April
Closes: Wednesday 11th May

Show how water underpins irrigated agriculture, helps our public parks and gardens thrive, creates employment, as well as providing a wonderful environment and recreational opportunities.

There are some fantastic overall prizes in the Open, Secondary student, Primary student and Peoples Choice categories, as well as weekly cash prizes:

All winning and highly commended entries will be displayed at the Murrumbidgee Field Days as entries to the People’s Choice Award.

Criteria 

Photos can capture any aspect of water in the MIA including town and rural settings. Scenes may include:

  • What water creates through agricultural production e.g. crops, livestock, horticulture, citrus, aquaculture
  • Bodies of water e.g. Lakes, rivers, canals, channels, dams
  • Environmental outcomes – wetlands, birdlife etc
  • At home e.g. In the garden, recreational, town water
  • Green spaces and public gardens
  • Recreation based on water
  • Infrastructure that delivers and manages water

Photos must be high resolution and at least 300ppi.

Each entry must be accompanied by a caption (including location of shot).

Photographer’s name, email and telephone number must be provided.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The competition is run by Murrumbidgee Irrigation Ltd,  Research Station Rd, Hanwood NSW 2680, (ABN 39 084 943 037)
  2. Murrumbidgee Irrigation Ltd will become the sole copyright owner of all images entered. The entrant authorises Murrumbidgee Irrigation Ltd  to display, print, and distribute in any manner any photographs entered in this competition.
  3. The competition is option to all resident of Australia, with an Australian mailing address, to be eligible to win the prize. 
  4. Entries are to be submitted (details of website) and are open from 9 April 2021 to 11 May 2021 inclusive.
  5. The “What Water Means to the MIA” competition will have 4 available categories to enter being “open”, “secondary student”, “primary student” and “staff”.
  6. The entrant must be the copyright owner of any images he/she enters into the competition.
  7. The entrant’s photograph must be exclusive to this competition and must not be entered in any other competition.
  8. Any post-production and editing must be the work of the entrant.
  9. The entrant is responsible for obtaining all relevant model and/or property releases.
  10. The entrant indemnifies Murrumbidgee Irrigation Ltd against any claim, legal or otherwise, that may arise out of publication of the image.
  11. By entering the photograph into this competition, the entrant guarantees to Murrumbidgee Irrigation Ltd. that the above entry requirements have been met.
  12. This is not a game of chance.
  13. Every Friday, a weekly winner will have their photograph published on the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Ltd. Facebook page (insert details), with the overall winner being announced on 15 May. The judge's decision is final, and no further correspondence will be entered into.
