MI has an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-driven Finance Officer to join our Finance team. In this role, you will support the efficient financial operations of the organisation through accurate, timely and customer-focused delivery of accounts receivable and general accounting and take ownership of the automated accounts payable function.

About the role
This position supports accurate financial processing, maintains data integrity and contributes to the smooth running of MI’s operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the automated accounts payable function to ensure the timely processing of payments
- Maintain creditor and debtor master data and reconcile statements
- Prepare and process batch payments and reconcile accounts payable ledgers
- Troubleshoot invoice and billing errors and drive process improvements
- Provide administrative support and maintain accurate data in our contractor management system
- Generate invoices and support the resolution of accounts receivable queries
- Perform billing cycles, including council billing, interest runs, refunds, credit transfers and direct debits
- Provide general accounting support including preparation of financial reports, year end and audit requirements, and reconciliations
What you’ll bring
Essential
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable
- Skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows and appropriate accounting software applications
- Interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Exceptional data entry skills with demonstrated ability in speed and accuracy
- Demonstrated experience in ERP software
Desirable
- Qualifications in accounting or related discipline
- Experience leading an accounts payable function in a medium sized organisation
- Experience in the infrastructure, utilities and/or asset investment sector
- Knowledge of water industry regulations and legislation
- The incumbent must hold a current ‘C’ class motor vehicle licence
