MI is seeking a motivated and detail‑driven Financial Controller to lead our Finance team, who will play a key role in strengthening our financial performance and systems.
In this role, you will manage the effective financial operations of the organisation by guiding a high‑performing team and ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely and stakeholder- focused financial services. You will be central to strengthening MI’s financial performance, supporting major projects, and enhancing the organisation’s overall financial capability!

About the role
This position ensures accurate, compliant and timely administrative support across key regulatory, customer and stakeholder functions. Key responsibilities include:
- Build a high performing team by setting clear goals, recognising performance, removing barriers, fostering collaboration, and supporting development.
- Plan and review resource allocation, drive process and system improvements, as well as identifying and managing risks to support team and business objectives.
- Lead daily financial operations, drive budgeting and reporting processes, support annual financial statements and compliance, and action audit requirements.
- Collaborate with IT to enhance integrated financial systems and improve data quality and reporting outputs.
- Contributing to a positive safety culture and modelling MI’s values in daily interactions
- Provide financial input into capital projects and foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including management and staff.
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in finance or accounting or related discipline
- Member of a relevant professional association (or working towards)
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows and appropriate accounting software applications
- Extensive experience working with ERP systems
- 5-10 years relevant accounting/finance experience
- Interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to co-ordinate a team
- The incumbent must hold a current ‘C’ class motor vehicle licence
Desirable
- Experience in the infrastructure, utilities and/or asset investment sector
- Knowledge of WHS issues relevant to work activities and work area
