About the Role
Murrumbidgee Irrigation (MI) plays a vital role in supporting regional productivity, and this position contributes by analysing the IT environment and delivering solutions that meet evolving business needs.
The Senior Systems Engineer brings expertise to a diverse range of IT client, infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and operational technologies. This position is responsible for facilitating administration, monitoring, and providing strong operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Resolve priority IT incidents ensuring sound research, investigation, solution design, and effective communication with stakeholders.
- Manage and optimise data backup and disaster recovery systems to ensure reliability and performance.
- Lead IT projects and deliver new solutions across client, infrastructure and security domains.
- Maintain and monitor IT infrastructure to ensure stability, performance and proactive issue prevention.
- Strengthen cyber security capability through monitoring, detection, response and adherence to security frameworks.
- Model MI values by supporting team members, sharing expertise and fostering strong safety and leadership practices.
What you’ll bring
Essential:
- 5+ years relevant industry experience.
- Exposure to multiple, diverse technology platforms including working across a range of cloud and on-premises technologies.
- A passion for IT and a demonstrated interest in new and emerging technology trends.
- Exceptional knowledge and experience in:
-Microsoft Windows Server technologies including Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, Hyper-V, and Remote Desktop Infrastructure
-SOE and endpoint management including application packaging and deployment
-Server and Storage infrastructure management and administration
-IT system monitoring products such as PRTG
-Cloud technologies, preferably a focus on Microsoft Azure
-Backup and Recovery solutions
-VOIP telephony systems administration
-Cybersecurity technology controls and administration including firewalls, endpoint protection, threat and vulnerability management, content filtering, and conditional access policies, data loss prevention.
-WAN and LAN network and communications infrastructure
- Experience in IT incident, problem and change management procedures.
- Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Current ‘C’ class motor vehicle licence
Desirable:
- Knowledge of safe work procedures and WHS training relevant to work
- Previous experience with cybersecurity industry standard frameworks
- Previous experience in Infrastructure, utilities and/or asset investment sector highly regarded
- Knowledge of SCADA control and/or Irrigation Management Systems highly regarded
